August 6, 2011 (Saturday)

Friends from David and Chrissy's church and the Sheriff's department held a garage sale today and will hold another garage next Saturday.

Here is an email Chrissy provided regarding a breakdown of needs for fund-raising....

We are basically trying to raise $10,000.00 for David's transplant. We have many areas that will not be covered by the insurance company. here is what we will need to cover:

(1) Housing. David needs to live in LA after the transplant. The hospital does not provide this housing,. We have looked into the costs, and have come up with a rough estimation of $4 to 5 thousand for the 4 or more weeks he will be staying there. As he will be living in the most ritzy area, it will really add up. he needs to be only 15min. drive from the hospital.

(2) Gas. All of his caregivers will be driving back and forth from Orange County. There are several caregivers that will be going back and forth, including myself, which is even farther. Gas one way is about $40.00 for most cars. During the stay, the caregivers will be switching off 3xs a week for 4 or more weeks. So approx. $1,440 or more for gas.

(3) Food. David will be on a special diet. I am not completely sure of what his grocery bill will look like, but we are also feeding the caregiver, so that will be a random bill. Especially considering how David craves odd food in the middle of the night!!

(4) Clinic visits. David will be at the hospital 4xs a week , visiting the Dr. and other specialists. we will pay our co-pay each visit. So approx. $640.00 just for 4 weeks.

(5) Medicine. Most of David's meds are covered by insurance. The co pay is approx $10.00 per prescription. He will be on a least a dozen of them while in LA. some do cost up to $100.00 or more. This is also a random item, but VERY necessary for his recovery.

I know there will be other items of comfort for him that will need to be purchased while there. So my estimation of $10,000.00 should cover everything.

We are counting on the LORD to provide our needs for this, so if you know of friends or family who would be willing to donate to our cause, we would be so, so grateful!

For a tax deductible gift, please visit http://www.rcdsrf.org/, andclick the donate to David Griffin button. You could also donate through PayPal, I have found out that the receipt you get when you donate, is your tax receipt you give to your tax man.

I pray God will move on the hearts of the believers to give as unto the LORD! I trust HE will provide!! AMEN and AMEN!

Blessings, Chrissy Griffin
