Today David said he was feeling "well" but was tired.
His counts are:
WBC: 3.92
HGB: 11.1
Plts: 20
ANC: .1
Saturday we drove up and took David his clean laundry and sat and visited for awhile. He said his pain level is an 8 out of 10 but he seemed to have a lot more energy than the day before. He had just finished a bath 10 minutes before we arrived and he was still able to stay awake through our entire stay.
It hurts to talk, so our conversations are limited. He sounds as a bit high pitched, as though he has been sucking on too many helium balloons. He showed us the sores inside his mouth, they look very painful. He noticed that you can see the imprint of his teeth on his tongue because his mouth is sore he tries not to move his tongue around much.
He had one other observation that it didn’t hurt to burp, all good indications that things are progressing.
His counts for Sat. Sept. 10, 2011 were:
WBC: .29
HBG: 10.8
Plts: 33
ANC: .1
David's ANC count is now at .1! The ANC count is REALLY important and it's been at zero for the last 9 days. It stands for Absolute Neutrophil Count…the nurse told us that when it gets to .5 David will be at the point of being able to be discharged.
David was trying really hard to get a bottle on Ensure swallowed. He was continuing to fill a syringe with Ensure and squirting it down his throat. His hope is the protein in the Ensure will help get his Platelets level up.
He is showing signs of bruising from his platelets level being so low for so long and his weight is down to 124 pounds.

Chrissy started coming down with something on Friday and felt crumby most of the day on Saturday. She finally started feeling better this morning and was packing up to take the kids to church this morning.
