David’s ½ hour surgery that was supposed to start at 8:00 didn’t start until 11:30 am today. The procedure took 2 ½ hours. With UCI being a “teaching” hospital the doctor took the opportunity to instruct a student on how to insert the portacath which took much longer. He wasn’t under full anesthesia but in a “twilight” sleep instead.
When he got out of the surgery, the bed they were supposed to hold for him had been given away. They finally received a bed at 4 pm this afternoon. It was a long day. His jaw and neck are sore and won’t be able to shower for 10 days until the incision heals. He’s now in room #7631.
He was informed that he will have another spinal tap tomorrow. His last headache just ended yesterday so he’s not too thrilled.
David’s appetite was up. They got In-N-Out for lunch and Coco’s Shrimp Scampi for dinner and Cheesecake Factory Cheesecake for dessert. He’s now at 124 pounds.
"Heaven and earth may pass away but MY WORDS WILL NEVER pass away." Mark 13:31
