David had a doctor’s appointment on Thursday and was told that the rash on his arm has healed enough for him to be readmitted and have another treatment of chemo. He was given another dose of antibiotics to make sure it continues to heal.
He was also told that his WBC (white blood count) and platlett levels were dropping, which is common with infection.
David will be readmitted on Monday, June 13, 2011 and has been told he’ll be there for 10 days. David doesn’t have a “roadmap” yet and doesn’t know exactly how the time or treatment will go.
They were given quite the runaround with their insurance company. UCLA accidently entered the wrong insurance company and Chrissy had to spend quiet awhile on the phone getting it straightend out. Then UCLA wants a bunch of blood work done and the insurance company wants David to have the work done by the local Quest lab. The frustrating part was the insurance company sent the paperwork to their PCP (primary care practioner) in Riverside to sign. The PCP has already said that David’s case is way beyond his ability and wants David’s oncologist to handle the paperwork. Now Chrissy has to track down the paperwork, get the bloodwork done and get the results back to UCLA. It’s a logisitic nightmare.
Chrissy shared that David has been nauseous for most of the week.
