For the first few days home David had stomach cramps again and was in a lot of pain. He said he has been feeling much better the last two days.
This week has been hectic. Saturday, Allison came out and stayed until Sunday. She took Ethan and Anna for the day so Chrissy only had to juggle David, Titus & Zachary. Sunday, Brandy brought over pizza. The family that was scheduled to bring Monday's dinner had to cancel. Chrissy had to take Titus to the doctor to be treated for a sinus infection. Tuesday, Larae brought dinner. We drove out and worked on sprinklers and helped with some household chores. Wednesday they ate the casserole we brought. The person who had offered to bring dinner on Thursday has had to cancel.
Jonathan will drive David back to UCI on Friday so he can be readmitted into the hospital for another month of chemo.
Yesterday David found out that his bone marrow transplant has been approved to be at UCLA. He has a consultation next Thursday to find out more information. He will have to be discharged from UCI, drive up to UCLA for his consultation and then be re-admitted at UCI when he returns.
Insurance has also approved for David's 3 siblings to be tested to find out if any of them is a match as a bone marrow donor. UCI has mailed the cheek swab kits to each to each of them today.
If I understood the conversation correctly. They are going to ask them to take the swabs to their doctors office and ask the doctor to help them gather the samples. They want to make sure they are done correctly and that they get a piece of tissue sample from their cheek. Then the siblings are supposed to mail the kits back. If one of them are a match then they will have to travel to UCLA to donate their bone marrow.
