July 7, 2010 (Wed.)

David had a rough day today. He woke up at 3:45 am in horrible pain. Chrissy explained it as though his nerves & muscles were having spasms. Eventually they called the paramedics and contemplated going into the ER but decided against it. They finally got a hold of their doctor today who had David go in for blood tests. The doctor said the "PEG" chemo David had yesterday shouldn't have caused that kind of pain.

They were given quite the run around getting the blood drawn today. There insurance won't pay for the blood to get drawn at UCI Medical Center or the Choa Cancer Center and they insist that the blood draws are through Quest Laboratories. David and Chrissy were so frustrated today and David was in so much pain they had decided to go ahead and pay "out-of-pocket" but the staff at the hospital is so compassionate they wouldn't let them do that and called and argued with the insurance company. Eventually, David and Chrissy had to drive an additional 5 miles up the freeway to the Quest lab and wait for 2 nurses to help 30 patients this afternoon. It was a long day....

David has a scheduled doctor appointment tomorrow and hopefully the blood test results will be better.
