Sept. 13, 2012 (Thursday)

Joe (David’s dad) sent me the following information.
Last night his pain level was less than the day before.
We were woken up at 10 pm, 11 pm, 12 midnight, 2 am, and 4 am. (No wonder David says he never sleeps).
David was very hungry around midnight.  The vending machine in the ER sufficed with beef jerky.
Early in the morning is David’s best time for eating, he asked for breakfast sandwiches from Starbucks.
David is getting Vancomycin (antibiotic) and several other antibiotics for preventative measures to help fight infection.
He was very tired this afternoon and sat up for dinner long enough to eat some white rice and miso soup that we brought from a Japanese restaurant.
He also has to have his blood sugar tested regularly because of the steriods. This afternoon he tested at 208 (normal is 80-110). The nurse had to give him an insulin shot.
Chrissy is feeling pretty lonely, overwhelmed and exhausted taking care of 4 children by herself all week long.
If anyone has a car seat that Chrissy could borrow, it would be helpful if you could let us know. She has all the kids in their larger (gas guzzling) car and it would be helpful if she had a second carseat for Zach (27 pound, 18 month old) to put in the smaller car when she is driving around with just Titus and Zach during the weekdays.  Post a comment on the blog or send me an email if you have one.
David doesn’t like the bright light in his room (even with the shades drawn). Joe had one Thermal Emergency Blanket (the thin silver sheets) and hung it in the window. Angel found another one and we hung them up. It makes the light in his room much more muted and easier on his eyes. We jokingly say it’s for the Meth lab we have in his room ☺ Can you see them?
