It was a long night again; at 2:30 am David asked the nurse for a dose of Benadryl, his skin was itching badly. The nurse informed David that the itching and nausea that he is experiencing can be a side effect of the Dilaudid (strong pain killer) that he is taking.  He wakes up every hour or so to suction his mouth of throat of all the mucus.

This morning it took him a long time to clear everything out of his throat and lungs, he had to rinse his throat several times. There was even a small amount of blood from all the hacking he had to do. When he tried to take a sip of water, David said, "it feels like there is no room down there".

Rick (David's nurse) came in this morning with his anti-fungals, steroids to help with his stomach because he isn't eating, and the blue pill is to help with his mouth sores.

Morning meds

David's counts are slowly increasing:
WBC: 0.10
HGB: 10.4
Plts: 14

Chrissy shared that a couple of days ago the American Cancer Society sent several books for each of the kids. One that she mentioned was helpful was "Because . . . Someone I Love Has Cancer: Kids' Activity Book", it asks questions like…How has life changed? and  how do you feel?, etc.  The other booked she liked was, “Our Dad Is Getting Better”.It's written by the children of a father who is struggling with cancer.
