The nurses disturbed David about every 20 minutes throughout the evening. David had more x-rays again this morning and the results looked the same. The gastro surgeon came in to examine David this morning and the pain on his right side is feeling better. He said his pain level was at a 4.
Dr. Tsang (Oncologist) came in and said that David is currently on 7 different antibiotics and that they would be giving him more bags of blood today. They weren't sure if he might be leaking blood somewhere due the infection in his intestines. He also stated his hemoglobin was low. We were told that since he will be receiving a bone marrow transplant the blood David receives had been irradiated to make sure that all the white blood cells are gone. His blood pressure was at 110/58 and his temperature was 98.6.
He wasn't happy that they want him to continue to stay of a soft food diet, which consisted of Cream of Wheat for breakfast, David would prefer Oatmeal but wasn't allowed.
Chrissy arrived at about 9:00 am and was able to be with David for the day. She helped him cut his hair (he's losing a lot of it because of the chemo) and take a shower. Those two events really wiped him out. He almost passed out from the activity and made his PICC line bleed , he needed a dose of Dilaudid and Chrissy got him two heated blankets from the nurses' station to make him more comfortable.
He received more doses of chemo today. One of the chemos he receives is PEG-Asparaginase, his nurse numbs his "back side" for about 20 minutes prior to the three injections he has to have.
Chrissy said that Zachary made quite the hit at the hospital and the nurses shared holding him for about 2 hours.
Members of our church came and prayed for David this afternoon. It was a powerful time and David was very encouraged.
